THE SECOND COMING– Chapter 2 (VIII)

-CALIFORNIA, USA
“Do you mind grabbing something for dinner before we head home?” Dale asked Amanda a few minutes later. This time they were some minutes away from their street.
“Can’t we just head home and fix something for dinner?” Amanda asked gently with a smile.
“Really?” Dale couldn’t help but burst into laughter. “So who’s gonna fix the dinner?” He asked.
“Me of course.” Amanda replied.
“You think that’s possible? Come on, there is no way you are cooking in my house, I am yet to insure the house.” Dale smirked as he pulled the car over to the side of the road, just in front of a popular American restaurant.
Dale alighted and ran to the other side of the car, just in time when Amanda was getting out of the car. He stretched forth his hand and after a series of internal debate, Amanda took his hand in hers and together, they walked into the restaurant which was burstling with activities and very much overcrowded, today being a saturday.
“Take a sit, lemme just place our orders.” Dale said as he led Amanda to a table, after which he walked to the counter to place the orders.
Amanda was busy admiring the lights illuminating the restaurant, she was clearly fascinated with the way, the light shown and she was already carried away.
“Excuse me ma’am. Will you please tick the menu option on your table, so you can be served.” A young man dressed in a white shirt over a red trouser and a red bow tie said.
Amanda was caught off guard and she couldn’t really answer the question put to her by the handsome young man before her.
“Oh! I am here with my boyfriend.” She replied. One thing on her mind, she thought he was hitting on her. And the only way to keep him at bay is by telling him she was there with her boyfriend.
“I guess, he’s gone to place your orders.” The handsome man replied, more of a statement than a question.
Now, the realisation hit her. She couldn’t believe she had mistook the young man before her as some rich spoilt kid who was hitting on her on a saturday night dressed in a weird white and red attire. Unknown to her, he was a waiter. How could she be so foolish not to have noticed the restaurant symbol which was crested on the breast pocket of his shirt?
“Yeah. And it won’t be fun if he meets you here with me.” Amanda warned when she realised that the waiter was getting all relaxed and was about to take the sit opposit her.
Even while he is on duty, he still had the guts to chat with a girl.
“My name is….” He was saying with his hand stretched forward.
“hey! Hey! I can see your name, see it there.” She cut him short pointing to the tag just above the crest on his breast pocket.
“Your name?” He asked trying to maintain his smiling face, even though, one could see how pink he had gone out of embarrassment.
“Tell me my name is what you came here to ask.” Amanda said mockingly.
The waiter flushed pink in embarrassment.
“If you’ll please go back to your duty.” Amanda said and turned to face the other side, where Dale was making orders for their meal.
The young waiter dejectedly walked away.
“Good riddance.” she muttered and a few seconds later, Dale arrived with their meal.
“Thanks.” She said as he helped her fill her cup.
“Welcome.” He muttered almost inaudibly.
Amanda had a feeling that something isn’t right. First, she wasn’t supposed to be at the Dale’s this evening considering what Dale tried to do to her the previous week. Agreed that fate brought her to his house this evening and by standards, she is supposed to see Dolapo off to the airport, was is she supposed to follow Dale back home and probably spend the night? Even though she is yet to spend the night at his place, but every indications points at it that she would be passing the night.
Should she be scared? Certainly, she should be, most especially if Dale decided to inject himself with drugs once again. Then he could find his way into the visitor’s room where she would be passing the night, and things may go worse. She couldn’t imagine herself loosing her innocence to a man she felt nothing for, she couldn’t imagine loosing as a result of rape, she couldn’t afford loosing it to a married man. They are just too gross as they seem….
“Are you okay?” The sensation swept all over her body as he place his hand over hers in a gentle manner.
“What?…. I.. I… Of course, I am okay.” She stammered trying not to look him in the eyes.
“Finish up your meal.” he said gently not removing his hand from hers.
The next minute, she stood up abruptly and walked towards the door marked ‘convinience.’
Now in the restroom, she was standing in front of a giant mirror.
Why is she feeling this way towards Dale? Could it be love? Certainly not. But what could it be?

CARLIFORNIA, USA
——————————————
Amanda was seated on the passenger seat beside Dale who was behind the wheels. They had waited until Dolapo boarded the Nigerian bound plane before they left the airport.
“How do you feel now that Aunty D is out of the country?” Amanda asked at the top of her voice while Dale had to reduce the volume of the car stereo where a Bruno Mars song was being played.
“You say what?” He asked.
“You must be missing your wife already.” Dolapo replied.
“Come off it. She is only gone for a while, two weeks. She’ll be back before you know it.” Dale replied his eyes on the road.
“So, what do you intend doing for those two weeks?” Amanda asked.
Just when Dale was about to reply, a car overtook the red ferrari they were in and blocked the road, two well built guys came out of the car. While Amanda had her heart in her mouth, Dale was smiling.
“Dale, what’s funny? These men are gonna kill us, aren’t they?” Amanda asked.
“Cool down girl. I thought you wanted to attend the institute of Criminology, so why are you afraid?” Dale mocked.
For the past three weeks, everyone in the family(Clement, Dolapo, Dale) have been using all sort of things to discourage her from sitting for the exam which was due to hold in a month’s time.
“Hey nigga.” One of the two men, the short and the dark skinned one said walking towards the driver’s side while the light skinned of the two walked towards the passenger side where Amanda was seated.
“Hey Dre, how do you do?” Dale greeted the dark man with a handshake that sounded more like a slap.
“Am chilling mehn! When did you come out?” Dre asked.
“Over three years now, but I had to lay low for a while, so I left for Africa. I returned to America two year ago.” Dale replied.
“Oh man, that pretty cool, you know, or what do you think Pete?” Dre asked the other man who was already conversing with an obviously agigated Amanda.
“Yeah, its cool.” Pete replied absentmindedly. He obviously was not part of the discussion, but he heard Dre said something about ‘cool’ therefore, the best option is to reiterate the word ‘cool.’
“Don’t you think there should be a second coming? You know, pick things up from the scratch.” Dre asked.
Dale glanced at the side to see if Amanda was listening to them. Its obvious she was, even though she was quick to pretend she wasn’t listening.
Dale gave Dre a strange look and the dark complexioned guy seemed to understand the message he was trying to pass accross.
“Here, our new mansion. You just show up so we can discuss.” With this, Dre bounced off towards their own car.
“Its nice meeting you Amy.” The other guy, Pete said before walking away.
Amy couldn’t help but smile, even though the sight of him was irritating and intimidating, there was still a gentleman side of him. His smile was actually something that endeared Amanda to him, even if his breathe reeks of achohol, she liked him.
Dale waited a minute for the guys to start their car and drove off before he ignited the car and continued the journey back home.
“Who are they?” Amanda was forced to ask when she couldn’t keep her curiousity in check any longer.
“They are my guys. Old friends actually.” Dale replied.
“Where did you meet them? You look cool than to be moving with guys like this. They look dangerous.” Amanda had blurted out before she realised the gravity of what she just said, but it was too late.
She could see the smile on Dale’s face change immediately to a frown.
“They said something about when you came out. Came out of where?” Amanda asked.
“Can you please drop it. They are my guys and its non of your business.” He screamed at her.
Amanda was hurt, but she kept mute and allowed Dale to enjoy the silence, even though she had expected him to switch on the car stereo, but he didn’t.
“You know, Amy, am very sorry for yelling at you the other time. Its just that I hate to talk about it.” Dale said apologetically two minutes later.
“Its okay. I understand.” She smiled.
But, the talkative that she was won’t allow her keep quiet.
“So, are you serious about not missin Aunty D one bit?” She asked, this time the car had come to a rest, as a result of the traffic light.
“Am damn serious. Why should I miss her when I have you?”
-What!
The light turned green and Dale sped off at once, and during the process increased the volume of the car stereo. There was no way Amanda could talk about it any longer.

THE SECOND COMING– Chapter 2 (VI)

–*–
–ILLINOS, USA
——————————————
As a usual tradition, Kelvin was sorrounded by his boys only that this time, they were at the dinning hall because it was not yt lights out. Every other inmates within the prison were suprised to see Kelvin amidst them in the dining hall, none of them could remember the last time he entered the dinning hall to pick his food tray talk more of sitting down to eat his food. Some other inmates claimed they had never seen him eat with them, probably because they arrived when Kelvin had grown wings as a second in command to Mysterious killer.
The dinning was also unusually silent today, the inmates were involved in less chatter, the dinning attendants and those in the kitchen in the next room tried to make sure there were no unecessary clanging of pots or other kitchen equipments, all because Danger-kelv wants everywhere to be silent.
The silence inside the dinning hall could be likened to a graveyard, but the silence further grew to a point that you could hear the next person’t heart beat, the moment, the Director General walked in.
“oh o! I can see there is a good side beneathe your evil nature.” The DG made a stop at Kelvin’s table and mocked.
Kelvin’s jaw twitched in anger, but looking around the hall, he knew he stood no chance, considering the number of guards in position.
“Attention everybody.” The DG said walking towards the counter before turning to face his audience.
“Its a new system here in Songa, a new director is here and things will change for the better. This facility was built five decades ago and for twenty years now, the equipments within this facility has continue to deteriorate. No one is paying attention to them, but with my emergence as the boss here, the renovation is currently going on.” He said and paused to watch their reactions.
There was nothing new, they still had that what-da-fvck look on their faces.
“And therefore, I have decided to make every inmates here equal. There won’t be a commando anywhere, neither would there be the executive councils to the commando.” He continued and glanced towards Kelvin’s table.
“Intimidation won’t be allowed, every inmates are to sleep in their cells and every seven thirty, you must all converge here to have your dinner and on Fridays, you will be allowed to watch tv till midnight.” He could continue no more.
A faction of the hall were cheering him, obviously they were happy about the new development, while another set of people were jeering and booing the DG, those one can be likened to be Danger-kelv’s loyalist or better still, the fear of intimidation made them want to be in his good books. A few number of people were indifferent about the new development, probably because they dread being on the bad books of Danger-kelv and falling into trouble with the authorities.
Five minutes later, the DG was forced out of the hall when the inmates threatened to attack him, but the most important thing was the message which he had successfully passed accross to them and nothing in his words would stop him from doing what he planned to do.
Kelvin was visibly shaken as a result of the rules and the reaction of the inmates. Even though a considerable amount of people were against the rules, yet, the number of those in support of the rules is equivalent to those against.
“You guys just do it.” He said to one of his boys who was taking instructions from him.
At once, Kelvin picked up the tray on top which his food was set and slammed it hard on the floor, thereby causing the plate and cup to shatter into pieces. There was no ‘go ahead’ bigger than that as his boys went in different directions within the hall and in the seconds that followed, all electic bulbs and flourescents has been broken and the hall thrown into total darkness and the fight began.
By the time the guards arrived, several people have been injured. While some were nursing minor injuries, others were nursing fatal injuries, even Kelvin who was on his seat throughout to fight was sporting a broken nose from where blood was gushing out, some tens of inmates were lying on the floor almost lifeless.
By the time the DG arrived at the scene, non electric lamps have been set up at strategic angles such that the whole hall was illuminated once again. His eyes first went to Kelvin who was still sitting down comfortably with a white turned red handkerchief dabbed on his nose.
The DG shook his head as if deep in thoughts.
“Truely, Danger-kelv is a force to reckon with within the walls of this facility.” He concluded.

-CARLIFORNIA, USA
——————————————
Amanda agreed to return to Dale’s house after she had spoken with Dale a number of times and he had apologised profusely for his randy action, even though he blamed it on the injection he took, moment before Amanda walked into the kitchen. They both reached an agreement that they’ll try and avoid each other for quite a number of time to avoid a repeat.
As she parked her bicycle beside Dolapo’s Audi inside the car park, and realising there is no point playing pranks she decided to walk in through the front door.
“Hello…. Anybody home?” She called as she shut the door and strolled through the hallway into the living room where she met the shocker of her life.
Dolapo was weighing travelling bags which stood on the ground with a measuring scale and Dale was assisting her in bringing out the contents of the bag to make them lighter.
“What’s going on here? Who is travelling?” She asked.
“Is that the way to greet? Amy, I am disappointed in you.” Dolapo replied.
“Am sorry Aunty….”
“There is nothing to be sorry about. I recently delivered my baby and you didn’t visit to say hi to me and the baby. You only called me once. That’s very bad of you.” Dolapo cut her short.
“Aunty D, I wanted to come, but-.” She kept quiet and glanced at Dale who had an expressionless look devoid of anxiety, fear or confidence. It was evident that if she told the truth, Dale would expertly deny her claims.
“Aunty D, just forgive me. I am very sorry.” Amanda said giving Dolapo a hug.
“No problems, you are just a spoilt brat who didn’t know the right thing to do.” Dolapo replied.
Amanda pouted her lips feigning anger, but Dolapo would have none of that.
Then her eyes darted to the dining area where a baby cot was placed, immediately, she sped towards the cot and lifted up the cute little girl sleeping peacefully with a smile on her face.
“Oh my God!” She exclaimed. “She is so fvcking cute.”
“Hey! Don’t use such words for my daughter.” Dolapo warned jokingly.
“I mean it, she is cute. What’s her name?” Amanda asked.
“Oluwadarasimi.” Dolapo replied.
“You are joking right?” Amanda asked.
Dale who has been unusually quiet since the arrival of Amanda couldn’t help but stiffle a laugh.
“What sort of name is that? Dale, are you a part of the naming team?” Amanda asked.
Now, the agreement has been trauncated already.
“I called her Marrisa, but the mother insisted on calling her that weird name. I can’t even pronounce the name.” Dale replied.
“Aunty D, what does the name mean? Its Nigerian right?” Amanda asked.
“What do you expect?” Dale replied and they all bursted into bouts of laughter.
“So, what’s with the bags?” Amanda asked a few minutes later when they are done with the naming debate.
“I am travelling.” Dolapo replied.
“Travelling? To where? New york?” Amanda asked.
“No, Nigeria.” Dolapo replied.
Twenty five minutes later, Dale was driving the red Ferrari towards the city’s Airport where Dolapo would board a plane headed to Nigeria.
From the backseat where they sat, Amanda was able to get the reason behind Dolapo naming her daughter in the Nigerian way. She told the story of how her life in the University was, how she successfully made it to the final year alongside five of her friends, and in the months building up to their final exam, they were all killed one after the other. The decision to name her daughter, Darasimi came as a result of the fact that, on the day exams finished, the bullet which was aimed and meant for her hit one of her friends, Darasimi, and therefore, the only way to always remember her is to give her the name of the person who sacrificed unknowingly with her own life and in turn redeemed her own life.
It all turned touchy when Dolapo showed Amanda the picture she took with her friends when everything was all rosy and the two ladies couldn’t help but cry.
“Dale, are you that heartless?” Amanda asked.
“It not good to cry while driving and moreso, I have listened to the story a million times, so what tha heck?” Dale replied and pulled up into the Airport parking lot.

Only a dog who enters a lion’s den and came out unscathed would have a story to tell on how the lion was rendered powerless by it, even though it took the grace of God who made the lion immibile, just like the biblical account of Daniel’s encounted with lions. But such a dog would be feeling like a hero or something related to being a hero while giving its neigbours, the tales filled with lies.
If Amanda hadn’t smashed a glass cup on Dale’s head, she would have been a victim of rape and probably after the law takes its course, Dale won’t be found guilty of rape, but the use of hard drugs. She was sitting beside Curtis in the only Games reserve available in Carlifornia. Even though they had visited the park many a times in the past, today’s visit just looked a lot new to them.
“So, are we still calling the police?” Curtis asked.
“No.” She replied.
“Why?”
“I already spoke with Dale and he already apologised. Moreso, he was under the influence of heroine that day.” Amanda replied.
“Listen to the crap you are spewing. He was under the influence of some hard drug and he could remember he tried to rape you. Amy, think.”
“Stop calling me Amy. My name is Amanda.” She hated being on the wrong side and everyone knows, she’d rather disrupt everything than be corrected.
“Is that the issue now?” Curtis asked with a smirk.
“I don’t know, just don’t call me Amy anymore. Amanda is my name.” She replied with a straight face.
“Fine, my name is Curtis and not Curt.” A mocking smile displaying accross his face.
“I was never going to call you Curt.” She replied guiltily.
“Its not good to tell lies. Remember the day Dale tried to rape you? You were very hysterical about it. “Hey Curt, please I need you in my house, am scared.” Curtis replied imitating her voice.
“I said Curtis and mind you, I was never scared.” She replied.
“I knew, but you called me Curtis that night and you are scared.”
“Fine.” She said, defeat evident on her face as she stood up and grabbed her crossbag.
“Wha…are you leaving?” He stammered.
“Yes I am.” She replied.
He roughly dragged her back onto the seat and pinned her with his hands, even though she made no attempt to struggle with him.
“Good girl. Now, back to the reason why you forgave Dale.”
“Curt, will you just drop it? I am the victim in this scenerio and I decide who I forgive. Its non of your business.” She screamed.
“Wow! Did you just call me Curt?” He asked mockingly.
“No, I didn’t.” She snapped.
“You did and it sounded cool. Can you call me that one more time?” He was still mocking her.
“Fine, I think I’ll just leave.” This time with determination, she picked her bag and boarded a part shuttle which conveyed her to the front gate where the parking lot was located.
Three minutes later, as she waited for a bus, Curtis drove and came to a halt beside her. He was driving his mother’s car.
“Baby, will you hop in and lets get outta here?” He asked.
“No, I’ll wait for a bus.”
“Stop being ridiculous. You and I know that the next bus won’t be coming in the next thirty minutes. Moreso, you don’t have a ticket.” Curtis said.
“Well, I have a ticket already.” She said flashing the white paper at him.
“Good, but you can always call on me if you need my help girl.” He said smiling.
“I can never need you help.” She shouted.
“But, you will always need my love.” This time, the smirk on his face was undescribable. And its a pity to see someone having fun at the expense of your anger.
“I hate you Curtis, get that straight. I hate you.” she screamed and ran back into the park.
“My door is always opened.” With this, he stepped on the gas and sped off.
With the little stunt she played out there, she knew she had attracted onlookers, but she didn’t care. Her main problem was Curtis. She knew she was in love with him, but expressing it is a difficult thing to do, but anytime he brings up the love issue, she always feels some lump growing in her throat to a point that, the only one she could say was ‘No.’
And asking Curtis out would be her greatest undoing, because everyone in the neigbourhood would surely know about it.
The reason she was going hysterical about Curtis, she didn’t know and couldn’t tell.
Maybe LOVE sometimes can make one hysterical.

THE SECOND COMING– Chapter 2 (II)

–*–
LAGOS, NIGERIA
——————————————
For the first time in two months, Sandra was having a heart to heart discussion with her loving husband. And today being saturday, he was having an entirely weekend free of court cases and Sandra, a weekened free of business trips and visits to the custom offices.
“Seriously, Ben, the boy is complaining. He loves you and he wants you to reciprocate that gesture by loving him back, is there anything wrong with that?” Sandra asked.
“There are lot of things wrong with it. Why should I love him back?” He asked. “Answer me.” He barked to her face.
“Darling, stop being dramatic, why can’t you love him back? Did he offend you or do anything wrong? Even if he did, I am ready to apologise on his behalf and am sure he is sorry too. Just show the boy some love, he is my son, he deserved to be loved, you are the only father he has ever known.” Sandra explained, half pleading.
“I knew it would come to this. Patrick is not my son, he bears not my name, so tell me why he deserved my love?”
Just as if a sledge-hammer was hit forcefully on her heart, she could hear it crash, her eyes welled up with tears, she had always had this conversation with her husband, and everytime it turns out to be a real fight. Today hasn’t been an exception, because they had started just like every other day and are progressing like the previous times they had had the conversation. The same questions, the same responses, the same reactions.
“Look here woman, this is the last time I am having this conversation with you. The boy is not my son, I even tried by accomodating him inside my house, my marriage, I even pay his bills, what other love is bigger than this?”
“You keep saying you pay his bills, I offered to pay them, but you inisisted on paying them. This is my house and he has every right to live there, the only thing you ever did was allowing him into our marriage.” This time, her voice was well raised above normal. She was now ranting making noise and ready to create a scene.
“Fine, the house belongs to you, but remember I have my own house which is where you were married into, living here with you doesn’t mean, I don’t have my house and I can always return to my house with my children.” He was raising his voce too.
Sandra stretched her hand to make him lower his voice.
“Your business was down for how many months? Who paid the bills then?” He asked, this time he was already at the wardrobe picking out his clothes and stuffing them inside a travelling bag.
Sandra quicly went on her knees. The last thing she ever wanted was Benson walking out of the marriage.
“Darling, its not up to that. Even if you want to move out, be sure we are moving out together because I am your wife and its everywhere you go.” She said.
That seemed to calm down his nerves, her kneeling position and the tears in her eyes. He pulled her up, before he went to sit on the bed. One thing he would never do was pull her up and give her a peck, telling her it is alright, he would always leave her standing.
She walked back to to bed and knelt in front of him.
“I understand your point, but just consider him as one of your nephews if you can’t assume the father position in his life.” she pleaded.
“I can’t. My nephew is somehow connected to me by blood, I don’t see how I should force myself to be his father, when we both know who his father is.” Benson replied.
“Ben, you are making this all hard to come by. If you can’t love this boy for any other reason, jus love him because of him. I am his mother and your wife. Please.”
“I married you and not him. And please, I don’t ever want us to have this discussion again.” He said and stormed out of the room.
Immediately, he walked out, she followed him, but met the shocker of her life when at the entrance into the room stood Patrick with an expressionless look on his face.
“Pat… I… I. Did you..?” She stammered.
“Mum!” He shouted.

THE SECOND COMING– Chapter 2

–*–
–ILLINOS, CHICAGO USA
——————————————
Work has started on the rehabilitation exercise of the Songa maximum prison Illinos. The contract which was awarded to Clement’s construction company, a business he diverted to when he arrived USA almost two decades ago, after his compulsory retirement from the Nigeria’s police force at thirty two.
With over thirty field employee at his disposal plus about ten office workers, his firm could well be described as big enough, but here in America, it falls in the category of infant companies. The fear of investing huge sum of money into the business is the begining of wisdom, plus his lack of financial backing and no business afliate, except for on construction company in China with whom he executed the railway project with.
“This is the defination of a prison.” Kayla said with a chuckle as she walked around the facility with Clement.
“Why?” Clement asked.
“Isn’t it obvious? Every inmate here reeks of crime, from the looks on their faces, one could see that they are real black criminals.” She explained.
“Stop being a racist.” Clement scolded.
“Is there anything of such in my comment?” She growled at Clement. “I mean, I am black too, so why discriminate?”
“Get off here bitch.” Inmates yelled at Kayla throwing all sort of things at her.
It seemed like her comment about the prison and its inmates brought out the ugly side of them. Since Clement arrived with his team, three hours ago, they had enjoyed their stay working on the facility, to the extent that they got waves from some of the inmates. But in those three hours, Clement hasn’t seen Kelvin or anybody that looks like them.
“You are black, but you are American.” Clement added once they were safely at the end of the corridor, away from the cells.
“They are Americans too. If not all, at least, a larger percentage of them.” Kayla argued.
One of the things he loved about the young lady beside him, she can never accept defeat when it comes to arguement, especially arguements based on things in the physical realm. Therefore, Clement knew best to give up on trying to make her reason with him.
After walking for a relative long distance, such that, they had walked the whole corridor on the ground floor and are now walking on the open field behind the cells.
“Where exactly are we headed to?” Clement who was already feeling pains in his back region, his trip to Chicago has caused him a whole lot of things, one he couldn’t drive in the comfort of his own car. He was being driven around by a government provided SUV which looked stuffy and sitting down in the backseat leaves him with little or no room to put his legs, and therefore, his back is always arched when he is sitting down during the two hours drive from his hotel to the prison.
“Lets take a sit.” Clement said, even though he was already sitting on a makeshift bench made from bamboo sticks. Kayla sat beside him gently and they continued their conversation.
He knew a lot about Kayla already and it won’t be bad listening to her talk about herself once again. Probably, this would be the fourteenth time they would be talking about her, something she enjoyed doing and Clement often enjoyed listening to her interesting life story.
“So, tell me about yourself.” Kayla beat him to it already.
“Oh! I was just gonna ask you to do the same, but I guess, you’re just too fast.” Clement said laughing. His aim was to change the topic. He has never for once told Kayla or anybody about himself, except that he has a construction company, he was an ex officer and a widower. He didn’t trust himself to be able to tell anybody his story, especially, not somebody like Kayla, who would expect him to narrate in the manner which she did hers, growing up, siblings, education, service year and marriage life. He knew how much Kayla was interested in knowing how his wife died, and also, his family back in Nigeria.
And a straightforward person he was, he couldn’t lie to her, and the truth may be hurtful to him.
After more unusual persuasion plus a promise to take him watch the next cricket game at the Southgate cricket stadium where Kayla is a member, he braced himself to tell his story.
By the time, he finished his story which looked like a film in series, tears had already welled up in his eyes, but Kayla’s hand was squeezing in a reassuring way. He could hear her voice saying in his head; everything would be fine.
“So, where is that your brother?” Kayla asked.
Even though he had told her everything that happened, except that he refused to tell her more about what his father, brother and sister once did. She just assumed that they all are in Nigeria.
“So, that handsome brother of yours, where is he now?” Kayla asked.
Clement checked his time piece.
“Ow! Its lunchtime already, the inmates would be here before long.” And with that he walked away from the field with a reluctant Kayla.

THE SECOND COMING– Chapter 1 (X)

–*–
CALIFORNIA, USA
——————————————
Amanda was begining to feel uncomfortable about her being alone in the house with Dale. She has always been uncomfortable sitting around Dale, even with Dolapo around, she still felt uneasy.
“When will Aunty be back?” Amanda asked shifting from the bench and sitting on a stood a few feets away from Dale.
“She should be back before long. She actually went down South..” Dale was saying.
“To the hospital right” Amanda said, more of a statement than a question.
“Yeah.”
“She is not due, is she?”
“In about a week.” Dale replied flipping through the pages of the book in front of him and two bottles of whiskey stood beside the book, one empty and the other still full.
Amanda wanted to ask more questions, but a ringing phone cut her short.
“Hello.” Dale said on answering the call.
“Who is this?” He asked.
He kept quiet for a few seconds, probably listening to the introduction of the caller.
“Oh! Danger-kel…” The word was strucked in his throat as he glanced at Amanda with a look that told her he is uncomfotable with her presence in the kitchen.
She politely excused herself and walked out of the kitchen back into the hallway. She was headed outside the house into the garden to get the freshest of breeze late in the night, but thought against it when she remembered Dolapo and her visit to the hospital.
She smiled at the thought that Dolapo was a week away from her scheduled delivery, because she could remember the first time she visited the hospital with Dolapo, the doctor in charge did a few calculations and predicted a date of her delivery, but she remembered her conversation with Dolapo afterwards, where she said, she would love to deliver the baby before the predicted time, probably, one or two injections will speed up the delivery date.
She branched into Dolapo’s bedroom and walked towards her wardrobe, yanking it open, she discovered that a compartment was empty, the compartmen that used to house her baby things. This narrowed her thoughts to the point that Dolapo has gone to the hospital to deliver the baby in her stomach.
One strange thing about Dolapo and Dale’s couple lives is the fact that they sleep seperately in their rooms and while they try as much as possible to live a happy life as couples, Dolapo ends up fighing to keep the marriage while Dale doesn’t care. He had no idea of how to work towards the future, he is only concerned about the present, which was why he couldn’t boast of a thousand dollars in his bank account, even though, no one knew the type of job he did. But, a man who rides a Ferrari must be at least, above average when it comes to financial power. But somebody like Dale who still fuels his car and pays other bills with Dolapo’s credit card, is nowhere near average.
Amanda exited the bedroom two minutes later and returned to the kitchen, she apparently had lost the zeal to spend some time in the garden, probably to lure Dale to sleep, so she can sneak back into the house and sleep in one of the stores, because Dale can not be trusted.
“What’s this you are doing?” Amanda asked foolishly as she walked in on Dale injecting himself.
Dale ignored her, as he gritted his teeth and emptied the content of the container into his body system. He was breathing hard like an athlete who just finished a cross country marathon race and came last despite his struggles and performance.
“Dale, are you okay?” Amanda asked moving closer to him.
Dale still closed his eyes, still breathing hard, this time it looked more like panting than btreathing.
“Dale.” She touched him and he could feel him stiffen on his seat as he relaxed under her touch. She could explain what that means, she had seen Curtis experience such, a few number of times, mostly when they are out swimming.
She quickly removed her hand and picked up an empty drug container and on reading the name, she could not but scream a little bit loud.
“Heroine! Dale! Is this what you inject yourself with? Hard drugs. Don’t you know how danger…” She was saying, but Dale had forcefully dragged her to the nearest wall. He slammed her back against the wall and clamped his mouth over hers, kissing her roughly, while forcefully squeezing her boobs.
She couldn’t feel a thing, she had read that in situations like this, one would always feel a tingling sensation, but she felt nothing. He forcefully dragged her from the wall and dropped her on the kitchen cabinet, this time his was in between her legs as he ripped apart her sweater off her shoulder, but that was all he could do before a glass cup came crashing on his head.
He yelled in outright pain as he fell to the ground. Amanda quickly jumped down and raced out of the house into the garage, where her bicycle was locked in.

THE SECOND COMING– Chapter 1 (IX)

–ILLINOS, USA
——————————————
Kelvin and his men had been discussing all evening. They can be seen in twos and threes, even in the dining hall conversing in low tones. Even though Kelvin doesn’t eat at the dining, his men would take offers from him, submit it to the dining attendants, and one of his men would take the food to him. But in all, everyone could recognised his men, the aura of authority around them, the way they talked, the way they walked, one would know they control the prision.
“Have you spoken to Dale?” Kelvin asked a sweaty man, dressed in the same uniform as them. He seemed to have been running errands all day.
“I wasn’t allowed to use the phone.” The man replied.
The disappointment that played accross Kelvin’s face was enough to make a fool think straight and right.
“Didn’t you tell them, I sent you?” Kelvin asked trying to keep his cool.
“The DG will have none of that. He claimed he had no idea of who goes by the name, Danger-kelv. He claimed, no inmate is allowed to rule this facility while he is in charge.” The man explained.
“The DG?” Kelvin asked.
“yes boss! The DG has been changed.”
That was it, the ex-director general of the facilty dare not say he had no idea of who Danger-kelv was. Even though he first proved heady five years ago when he was posted, and the then commando of all the inmates, the late Mysterious killer was able to nip every powers that the DG has in the bud. Even though Kelvin did most of the job, as he was the deputy commando then, before he overthrew his boss.
Kelvin kept quiet for like two minutes which was quite unusual of him and his men did best by holding their breathe awaiting the next word that would come out of his mouth. They were all anticipating his response, even though they all hoped, he spits fire.
“Lets go.” He said getting on his feet.
“Boss, its night out already. The doors are locked.” One of his men called his attention to the railings into the chamber where other parts of the facility were visible. Everywhere was dark, including the offices. The only light available in the cells were the reading lamp or the bedside table.
“Its light out and you guys are still here?” Kelvin asked, even though he knew his men enjoyed impunity and immunity where they may decide when to and when not to sleep in their cells.
Kelvin moved towards the locked railings and pressed an emergancy button which immediately ran a bell and all the lights in every cell came back on. In a minute, two priosn guards were standing in front of the chamber with their guns.
“Yes?” One of them asked.
“Open the door.” Kelvin said, more like an order than a request.
Immediately, the key was inserted in the keyhole and pushed the door open.
Even though everyone feared Kelvin, he himself has a bit of respect for the guards, he doesn’t fight or attack them, neither do his boys.
“You all can’t go at once.” One of the guards said blocking Kelvin’s way.
Kelvin eyed him angrily.
“Fine, tuck in twelve of them. I’ll go with three.” He said and stroled off. With immediate effect, three men followed him, while one of the guards followed them, in a bid to unlock the doors ahead. The other guard led the other twelve to their respective cells.
“I am sure you must have heard about me. I am Danger-kelv, I run this facility.” Kelvin introduced himself to the new boss.
“So? How is that my business? You run you fellow inmates and not me.” The new boss replied.
Kelvin glared at him angrily. What an audacity.
“And mind you, its a new system, a new way of doing things. All unecessary immunities stop. Your chamber would be confiscated and locked, you’ll move into a cell by the time the renovation starts. No one can run the prision where I am the boss.”
Kelvin’s anger was rising and about to exceed its limits. He himself wasn’t sure of what he would do, but he really wanted to control his anger, even if its the last thing he would do.
“Fine, you are the boss. But I need to make a call.” Kelvin said looking around the office for something.
“This is not the phone booth and moreso, the phone lines are off. Come back tomorrow.”
“Really?” Kelvin asked.
“Yeah, and if you would please get out of my office. I have a lot to do.”
Kelvin rose to his feet, exchanged looks with the three men behind them. He took two steps further, picked up the mobile phone which laid carelessly on the DG’s table. He handed it to one of his men and they walked away.
The DG stood up glared at Kelvin angrily.
“Get back on that seat.” Kelvin placed a hand on his shoulder and the man fell back on his chair.
“Your phone is with me, its fvcking late already. In case you need to make a call, tomorrow is another day. You can always visit me in my chamber to use your phone.” Kelvin said before walking out of the office.
The DG glared, now he understood the reason why he was warned before he jumped at the offer to work at Songa.

THE SECOND COMING– Chapter 1 (VIII)

–*–

Clement walked out of the hotel where he was lodged and crossed to the other side of the road where the coffee pub was located dressed in a black sweater over a blue jean trouser. He looked forty with his young boy dressing, but his walking stick gave him away.
His mind drifted to the encounter he had at Songa maximum prision early in the afternoon when he accidentally ran into his kid brother. He could remember Kelvin’s reaction on sighting him, he could feel his bloodshot eyes, he could feel the anger, the loathe, the hatred on his face. He could remember how Kelvin had stabbed the man he was having a go with and the other inmate’s reaction made it all disgusting, they all felt happy when he killed the man.
Is this the kind of life every prisoners live? He wouldn’t care more if his brother hadn’t been one of them, even though there was a bit of withdrawn when he saw his brother, afterall, seventeen years is not a joke neither is it a short time. But the love and the blood bond was still there which was why he was able to recognise him immediately and vice versa, despite the number of reformation he had had on his face, the scars, the marks, the tattoos and every other reformation he had gone through.
Now he could understand how Ngozi felt seventeen years ago when he brother, Jay was in police custody, now he knew the exact feeling that one has. If only he had the power, he would have ordered for Kelvin’s release, but with the look on his face, his reaction and how other inmates and prison guards stopped him when he was running towards him(Clement) one could tell that, Kelvin still had vengeance on his mind, he still wanted to get a pound out of his flesh. Maybe he would try to talk to him, one of these days and let him understand what it means to be with one’s family.
This time, he had walked past the coffee pub he was headed to meet Kayla. And so as not to look like a lost fool, he decided to walk into the nearest ice cream shop and a minut later, he walked out with a plate of ice cream.
“You can have it.” He said handing it over to the security man at the door.
“Thanks man.” The security man showed his gratitude.
Clement smiled as he walked, one, two, three shops backwards till he got to the coffee pub. Immediately he entered, he could see someone waving from the far end of the pub which was arranged in a table like manner, three chairs per table.
“How do you feel about Illinos?” Kayla asked.
“Illinos is pretty cool, at least, not like other parts of Chicago.” Clement replied placing his walking stick on the only empty chair as he sat down.
“Don’t you think its high time you stopped using that?” Kayla asked pointing to the walking stick on the empty chair.
“I have grown to love it. Its now a part of me.” He replied with a smile.
“Do you care that much?” He asked with a smirk.
“You know I do.” She replied.
“Up to the point of…?”
“Naughty old man.” She said hitting him on the shoulder as the waiter came over to pour them coffee.
“Now, tell me what you’ve drawn up.” He said after taking a sip of the hot drink.
“Here.” She said spreading a paper on the table.
Amanda, rode her bicycle into the driveway and manouvered her way past the red Ferrari that was parked in the driveway. She disembarked from her bicycle and fastened the lock inside the garage, removed her helmet and made to walk into the house through the door from the car park.
Her main aim for using the emergency door which leads from the garage into the main house was to sneak in on Dolapo and Dale whie they were having sex. She had done it many times and today, she felt like doing it once again. One reason why she was happy for seeing the red Ferrari in the driveway, which meant one thing, Dale was home. And being a sex maniac that he was, he couldn’t spend three hours with his wife without attempting to sleep with her.
She slowly entered the hallway and proceeded towards their bedroom door, where she placed her ear against the door, hoping to hear groans and moans, but she heard nothing.
That was when it dawned on her that the Audi was not in the garage, which means, either Dale went out with it, or Dolapo went out with it.
“Sweet Amy.” He heard a voice call from the kitchen from where the hallway was visible.
She frozed as she quickly disengaged from the door and straightened up.
“Hi Dale.” She said confidently, even though, shock in her body gave her away.
“Why not join me here.”
